Thanks to the efforts of thousands of Keys2Drive clients who wrote to their MP to save the program, the Australian Government has provided $16 million to keep it on the road for a further four years. Over the past decade Keys2Drive has helped about 400,000 Australians to become safer drivers. But Keys2Drive was in danger of closing at the end of June due to a lack of funding.
The AAA and our member clubs have worked in partnership with Keys2Drive clients to urge the Government to keep the program on the road. As part of the 2017-18 Budget the Government has agreed to do so.
This means thousands of Australian families will benefit from this program which not only teaches learner drivers the habits of a safe driver but also helps their supervisor – usually mum or dad – to be a better teacher and a safer driver themselves.
